Jan Hart Black

We experience the elements of nature with our senses. Rain, wind, storm, stillness… weather of all sorts… impinge in ways we once knew but have forgotten. A Texas native, I am awed by the majestic, powerful, occasionally terrifying, never boring aspects of its elements. My current work expresses in oil my senses’ abstract memories of their touch. The feel of wind on skin. The awe of a tornado cloud. A still hot day. A gentle breeze. Dust storms. The clash of the creative and destructive. All of this inspires me to capture in oil on canvas these memories and invite the viewer to share them with me.
